How to Pick the Right Voice for AI Talking Actors
8 voices, 4 American and 4 British accents, evenly split male and female — here's how to pick between them, and a genuine finding about which settings actually affect the render.
· 6 min read
Flovaly's Talking Actors read every script with one of 8 curated stock voices — 4 American accents, 4 British accents, split evenly male and female — and there's no cloning option on any plan. Picking the right one comes down to matching accent and style to your actor and your audience, then previewing it before you spend credits. Here's the full list, how to choose between them, and what the settings panel does and doesn't actually control.
The 8 voices, and what each is built for
These are every voice Talking Actors can use, pulled straight from the app's voice registry:
| Voice | Gender | Accent | Style |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adam | Male | American | Narration |
| Sarah | Female | American | Soft |
| Liam | Male | American | Articulate |
| Matilda | Female | American | Friendly |
| Charlotte | Female | British | Seductive |
| George | Male | British | Warm |
| Daniel | Male | British | Authoritative |
| Lily | Female | British | Warm |
Eight is a short list next to platforms with hundreds of avatars and voices — see how Vidnoz's 2,660+ voices compare in Flovaly vs Vidnoz. What Flovaly's list lacks in breadth, it makes up for in being fully knowable: this table is the entire menu, not a sample of it.
How to actually choose
With only 8 options, the decision is smaller than it looks:
- Match the accent to your audience.American voices (Adam, Sarah, Liam, Matilda) read naturally for a US audience; British voices (Charlotte, George, Daniel, Lily) suit UK-facing copy or a deliberately different tone. There's no third accent option, so if neither fits your market, say so honestly in the script rather than fighting the voice.
- Match the style label to the pitch.Daniel's “Authoritative” style reads better for a claim-heavy B2B pitch than Sarah's “Soft,” and Matilda's “Friendly” suits a casual UGC hook better than Liam's “Articulate.” The labels are a genuine starting point, not marketing copy — they come straight from the voice registry.
- Preview before you run.Every voice has a playable sample, and it costs nothing to listen. Hearing the actual take on your script's energy is worth more than guessing from a style label alone.
- Pair it with your actor, not just your script.A voice that doesn't match the actor's apparent age or energy reads as mismatched even when the words are right.
What you can — and can't — actually adjust
Open the Audio Settings panel (the gear icon) in Talking Actors mode and you'll see four sliders: Speed, Stability, Similarity, and Style exaggeration, alongside the voice picker itself. Worth knowing before you spend time tuning them: checking the actual request the Studio sends when you hit Run, only the voice you picked and your script text are included — the four slider values aren't part of that request at all. Right now, adjusting them changes nothing about the rendered clip. The one control that does something is the voice dropdown itself, so if a take isn't landing, changing voices is the lever that actually works — not the sliders next to it.
There's also no cloning option anywhere in character creation or the voice picker — every script is read by one of the 8 voices above, never a real person's actual voice. If a specific team member's or spokesperson's real voice matters to your brand, that's a genuine gap to plan around rather than expect to work around.
Where to pick it in the Studio
- Open the Studio in Talking Actors mode and add your character.
- Write your script in the main textarea.
- Click the gear icon to open Audio Settings, then use the Voice-over dropdown to browse and select — the preview row above it updates to the voice you've selected so you can play it before committing.
- Check the credit cost next to Run, then generate. Switching voices doesn't change the price — see the cost breakdown below.

Does the voice change what it costs?
No — every voice costs the same. Adding a voiceover to a Talking Actors clip is a flat 2 credits on top of the base duration cost: 7 credits for 5 seconds, 12 for 10 seconds, or 17 for 15 seconds at 720p, roughly $1.35 to $3.29 on the $29/month Starter plan. 1080p applies a 1.5× multiplier — 11, 18, or 26 credits. Which of the 8 voices you pick has zero effect on any of those numbers. For how that sits next to every other generation type Flovaly offers, see our full AI video ad cost breakdown.
Eight voices is a real constraint, and this article isn't pretending otherwise — but within that list, picking well is mostly about listening before you run, not guessing from a label. Try the $1 trialand preview all 8 against your own script before spending a full month's credits on one.
FAQ
How many voices does Flovaly offer for Talking Actors?
8 curated voices: 4 American accents (Adam, Sarah, Liam, Matilda) and 4 British accents (Charlotte, George, Daniel, Lily), evenly split male and female. That full list is the entire menu, not a sample of a larger library.
Can I clone my own voice or a specific person’s voice?
No. There is no voice-cloning option anywhere in character creation or the voice picker — every Talking Actors script is read by one of the 8 curated voices above, never a real person’s actual voice.
Can I adjust the speed, tone, or style of a voice?
There are Speed, Stability, Similarity, and Style exaggeration sliders in the Audio Settings panel, but checking the actual generation request confirms only the voice ID and script get sent — the slider values aren’t included and currently have no effect on the rendered clip. The voice you pick is the only lever that actually changes the output.
Does which voice I pick change the price?
No. Adding a voiceover is a flat 2 credits on top of the base duration cost regardless of which of the 8 voices you choose — 7 credits for 5 seconds, 12 for 10 seconds, or 17 for 15 seconds at 720p, with a 1.5x multiplier at 1080p.
How do I preview a voice before spending credits?
Open Audio Settings (the gear icon) in Talking Actors mode, pick a voice from the dropdown, and use the play button on the preview row above it to hear that voice’s sample before you run the generation.
